I'm a child of an 84-year-old Army WWII veteran who shared a story about his involvement in the ammunition crisis of the British defending Antwerp in 1944.
It would be nice to be able to link Dad's side of the story with those on the British side who may have been involved in that crisis. It would be even more wonderful to share Dad's story with the City of Antwerp, as we are finding that little is known of this state of affairs just prior to the Battle of the Bulge. We of the family were riveted hearing the story of such extreme danger that was involved in trying to get ammunition to the British. Dad still doesn't know if the British received the three other transports that had been sent to Antwerp besides his.
I would be thrilled to hear from any vets who recall or can tell their side of the 1944 Antwerp crisis.
