I am friendly with Norman Dye, who served as a Pilot Officer in Air/Sea Rescue during the Second World War. The attached picture was taken shortly before D-Day. Norman is on the right and, according to him, the person on the left was IC all RAF D-Day operations for the area.
Norman is now 90 years of age and would dearly like to know the identity of this person. He must have been a person of considerable importance, but my enquiries so far have been in vain.
Can anyone help?
