Because of all your stories about V.E.day I asked my dad where he was on V.E. day. He was a member of the House Hold Cavalry serving the whole war doing reconnaissance in armored cars. He said they had been at the front where they always were. When they were told to return to the position they had been the night before. On their way back one of the armored cars was blown up killing two of their group. The next day they were officially informed the war was over. After some celerbrating they went back to work doing vehicle maintenance. He said things got pretty crazy after that. There were so many people that had been displaced for one reason or another. There were thousnads of people wandering around not knowing what to do or where to go.
