Can anyone who served with the 1st Batt. Suffolk Regiment throw any light on my uncle Eric of Northampton. He served with the Suffolks as a lance corporal, was a D-Day "Lander" and fought through Normandy, Belgium and into the Netherlands. Sadly he was wounded around the 17th,- 18th of October, during the battle of Venray as the Suffolks were moving from Overloon towards Venray. He died of his wounds on the 19th October and is buried at Meirlo War Cemetery. I would appreciate help from anyone who knew him during his war service as all but one of his brothers are deceased and information is becoming scarcer.
