In 1941/2 I was collecting shrapnel in Oldbury. I remember there being an Anderson shelter in the garden. While we were in there one day we heard a big bang which actually came from a "Big Bertha gun" and it threw my mother off her chair. Also I remember Italian POWs in the Blue Rock Quarries nearby and they want ed to learn how to speak English so they traded sweets for English lessons.
