When I was a young boy, an only child, I played football every minute of the day.
I was obsessed with football like most boys, especially on a Saturday morning at Garston Park, where there used to be football matches.
At the time of the invasion, my mother woke my father up; “I’ve had a dream about Jack. I went to the park and nobody was playing football. I asked the folk why they weren’t playing, they said we can’t start because Jack is missing!” She woke my father up — and at that particular time I was captured and was a P.O.W.
