A Narrow Escape

1)After school, on the way home a bomb had dropped leaving a huge crater in the field off London Road, where St Crispins School is now. If it had dropped a few seconds later it would have demolished our bungalow.

2) My Aunt owned a Tobacconist shop, called Phillips in Broad Street, Reading. After the People’s Pantry was bombed my aunt discovered a line of machine gun fire holes on a wall in the shop, which we had left moments before.
