It was when Dandy and I were walking to work along the dark, lonely ventilation roadway that I made some discoveries --- poor old Dandy was minus one eye!!!!! also he was not at all interested in going to work, he kept stopping and needed some gentle encouragement.
However once we arrived and he was able to eat his breakfast of chopped hay mixed with corn, he had no objections when I put his harness on his back. We were ready for a busy shift. Dandy and I shared the daily diet of coal dust together.
Our daily quota of around five hundred and twenty tubs of coal, numerous tubs of pit props and many other items that were necessary to keep T Unit in production made a busy shift for Dandy and myself.
Time to return to the stables along the ventilation roadway -- not a light to be seen.
Dandy was a different pony, despite all the hard work that he had done he was supercharged!!!! He took off into the pitch darkness leaving me to walk my lonely way back. I was very relieved to find Dandy in his alloted stall -- the one with the name Dandy printed on it!!!!
Can ponies read?????
