My lasting Memory of World War II is…when I was 7 years old, after a raid my Mum told me that St Joseph’s RC Church and School had been bombed. We both sat and cried. Every Sunday afterwards, we had mass in the Empire Cinema. At Christmas, we were evacuated from the Liverpool area and spent Christmas at a cousins in Ordsall. Many others had to stay in Trafford Road Senior School.
