Apprentice moulder in Falkirk during WW2

I was 13 when war broke out and I left school one year later. I started work at Carron Company (Carron, Falkirk) making parts for ships. I worked as an apprentice moulder on the nameplates for HMS Anson and HMS Howe. I then moved to another company in Falkirk to make parts for hand granades.

I remember the air raids during the war when the German bombers came over. We were never hit or damaged so we were fortunate. I lived in River Street in Carron. We always went out to the brick shelter in the garden when a raid was on.

When the war finished I was called up to the army and I seved with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
