My Papa Jack was in the R.A.F during the war.He was famous amoungst his squadron for his skill at poker.
In 1943 he and a group of friends and colleagues put money into a kitty which he would then use as a stake in poker.
He was extreamly successful.He would often come back with a pile of winnings which was then shared out between the stakeholders.(He was very popular!)
