The Song of India gives an eye witness account of the last 20 years of the British Raj in India, and the great love story of an English girl and an RAF Corporal. It depicts the life style of the upper middle class of English residents, their education and way of life 50 years behind that of the UK. The 1927 Independence of India led to the break-up of these families, and their subsequent flight from India to England, America and Australia. It was a previleged life style, yet they took with them their entrepenurial skills and left a legacy in India of which Britain can truly be proud. The fleeing British received no assistance from the Government.
