I am Brian Davies, 69 Years old and memories of World War 2 even though I was very young.
My Dad was caretaker at St John's Lane Infant School when the sirens ssoudead Dad used to take Mum nd Sister and meto the stoke hole which was under the school and contianed the boilers which heated the school. Quite a rediculous place to go because a direct hit would give us no chance. Being too old for the army dad was a warden on Fire duty. One night it was particularly heavy and incedary bombs were dropped on the school. I recall a friend of dads coming for help , his house in Raymond Road had a direct hit and he stood at the top of the stairs and said "all of my family have copped it" We got out of the basement but the incerdarys had done their bit. My sister and I were evacuated to Stow on the Wold. We then as a family moved to Patchway. Houses were availabe as no one would live the because of the BAC factory the Germans of coure would attack bedause they mad aircraft.

Another stry. My Grandfather was on one of the buses bombed one lunch time in Lewins Mead.
