Story recorded by Charles Dinsdale at BBC Open Centre 10/06/2005

I was four years old and my Mum was pushing me in a tansad down Hessle Road we had just been to Boyes. As we got up to Ribble Street my Mum said “Look at this aeroplane,” she turned the tansad round. It came in low and at about Langham Cinema it fired with a machine-gun, I can vividly remember the shot were lifting huge pieces of the road spurting up into the air. Mum was a bit worried and pushed the tansad into Ribble Street.
