I remember in 1942 my husband (Jack) worked with his father at Upper House Farm, and in about July they lost about 10 cattle when a bomb dropped nearby.

That same year there was an old cottage at Run Common that had to be pulled down because of a bomb. The owners were the Spreadburys. The bombers were aiming at the main London to Portsmouth railway line.
