My memory of V.E. Day is

Being in London on a 48 hour pass. I was among the thousands of people singing and dancing in the Mall. I can still bring to mind the two purple searchlights forming a “V” for Victory outside Buckingham Palace before I finished the night sleeping on the grass in Hyde Park — along with many others.
