Community Spirit

My lasting Memory of World War II is………………The wonderful community spirit that pervaded there was such a friendly atmosphere in trains, buses and in shops. In spite of air raids, blackouts, rationing (not many fat people in those days) and the queues. I don’t remember queuing before the war apart from theatre shows or the cinema. People would cheerfully stand in queues for hours for rations or cigarettes which were in very short supply.
