My granda told me this story so i dont really know too much about it but what i do know is that my granda John, well he was really worried when he found out his father and 5 brothers were being called to war. When they where away they were away for years, literally!
They were all away between 1939 and 1945 and the amazing part of this story is that they ALL came back.My granda and his whole family celebrated their return.Later on that year one of the brothers (im not sure which one exactly) met his colonel on Bearhope Street,Greenock and said "Oh,hello there Jackson so what are you doing just now?" the brother replied "Oh nothing, not since the war" the colonel said "Well get down to the sugarhouse and ill get you a job!" and that is how my granda John Jackson ended up with his job in the sugarhouse too.
