This story was submitted to the People's War site by a volunteer from Burgoyne Middle School on behalf of John and has been added to the site with his permission.

One day before we had a shelter, there was an air raid in the night. Our mum said that we must sleep under the stairs for the night. In the middle of the night, I needed the toilet. Now, because my when I went to the toilet during I was in my own bedroom, I knew the 'route' by heart. Anyway, I folowed the route and nearly ended up weeing in my mums needle basket! Fortuantly she caught me and I went back to sleep.
