This story is one of many I will be submitting.
My Father was an Engineer in the British Expeditionary Force in the early part of the war.
The first time he had handled a wepon was on the boat going over to France. This surely is an indication of how prepared we were.
Dad reports on how he felt he new exactly where he was in France and how he could identify the main features of a town before actually arriving in it. Such features as the town hall and the position of those unique French urinals.
This stange feeling puzzled him for some time. Then he realised that his knowledge was based on his Fathers stories from the 14 / 18 war. They must have entered his subconsious to be resseracted later.
Does history teach us anything ?
