I remember this vividly, at the age of about 7 years I was playing in the yard at the back of our house, when suddenly I heard this funny noise in the sky. When I looked up I saw this huge dark object with flames coming out the back. It was only a few feet above the house roof and suddenly the noise stopped. I ran indoors shouting and screeming, my dad worked at night and was sleeping in the indoor shelter, the commotion woke him up and he bumped his head on the top of the shelter; so I wasn't in his good books for a while! The Flying Bomb dropped a few hundred yards along, in an open space; with a huge bang shattering our windows. Fortunately there were no casualties, and life went on.
