One dark winter’s night, my sister came home from work and mother said to me “Go and open the back door for Marjorie.” I went through the dark kitchen, daren’t put on the light because of the blackout, opened the door and shouted, “Who’s there?” My sister shouted, “Boo!” to me. I went screaming back through the kitchen to the front of the house to the light, terrified. It was months before I dare go up to bed by myself.
