A chap across the road was a driver in the army. One day, to our surprise, a tank road transporter was parked outside our house. He had interrupted his official journey to call in for a cup of tea. We were pleased to see him and pulled his leg about having such a large vehicle in the road and asked him where the tank was. He replied that he’d forgotten it, but would do better next time. Sure enough, a few days later, parked outside our house, was a transporter plus “a tank”, which dwarfed our property.
So he was true to his word!
