I wasn't born until after the War - I'm a VJ baby actually! But watching the short programme about the gentleman who was in s'Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) reminded me of something that happened a couple of years ago.
I was attending the Dutch Open Badminton Championships in Den Bosch and we decided to visit the cathedral. When we walked in, a male voice choir was singing and we all looked at one another and said "Welsh Choir!" When the singing stopped, we got on talking to the choir members and a Scots member of our group discovered that one of them was Scots - don't ask me how he came to be in a Welsh choir! Anyhow, the reason the Welsh choir was there was that ever since the Welsh Regiment(s) had been involved in the liberation, a Welsh choir had taken part in the remembrance services. They were going to perform a concert in the cathedral, then move on to Arnhem to take part in the service at the War Cemetery there.
I thought it was very moving to see how much the Dutch people remember and appreciate the contributions made by these soldiers.
