When I was eight the Americans came to Rougham. I remember how smart they were and how much better their uniforms were than ours, and I used to watch thewm and look at their planes - I didn't understand how serious it all was.
My other memory is my brother returning from the war. Being young I didn't recognise him - he had been taken prisoner at the start of the war and returned home at the end.
