One day on my journey either to of from school on my bicycle - ridden on the pavement, just down a side road, oak lane, off the upper High Street,I saw a man in Army Uniform laying on the ground.I told the first person that I saw who was a policeman and he hurriedly made his way to him having escorted me well past the scene first.
In sevenoaks we had one of the very first concrete road blocks every 10 miles, some were at the end of Oak Lane opposite Senenoaks school.
I can remember at the end of the road was the main A21 road through to Hastings and a lot of army Lorries carrying soldiers,it must have gone on for at least 2 or 3 hours one after another - Dunkirk landings?
