my father joined the Royal Airforce during the war years and was stationed in Malaysia during the Japanese occupation. He met my mother there, a Chinese woman. When his superiors found out, he was told he would be flying back to England. So, my parents had a difficult decision to make. Never see each other again or get married. They chose the latter and came back to England together. That's how I came to be - a half Chinese, half Irish person living in England.
