I was approximately 10 years old. I was with my horses at the stables when hearing the sirens I ran to go to the shelter.I heard a Dornier airplane overhead and pressed myself into the fence because I was so scared. It was so low ,I could see the outline of the pilot.
Approximately 60 years later a friend gave me an ariel view photograph of Gibralta Barracks of the Suffolk Regiment, which had been taken by a German airplane, also in the picture was our house. I've often wondered if it was taken by the crew of the plane I'd seen that day as I do know that not many Dorniers flew over the area at that time.
