I'm a seamstress and used to make dresses. But, when the war started we wanted to help the war effort. So we got a job making parachutes. We worked near Piccadilly and used to put our names and addresses on the parachutes.
A member of royalty came round once to see what we were doing - Mountbatten.
We had three floors - the parachute floor, packing etc.
We also made tank suits. I used to break my bones alot, so I used to go into work with my leg in plaster.
