Turn the clock back to a cloudless Saturday afternoon when most 16 year olds would be enjoying the sunshine. Not these 2 unsung heroes! Eric Leggett recalls how he and his brother were gazing out of their sash window at the ocean wondering whether the war would ever reach the sleepy town of Great Yarmouth. A shadow darkened their view
as a German fighter plane soared past the window with a deafening noise.Fully equipped with their rifles and LDV expertise the 2 boys aimed and fired. A perfect hit! The Messershmitt_Erschmitt 109 made an emergency landing North of the pier with a sea of RAF men surrounding the aircraft as the pilot climbed out of his cockpit. Were you there?
