The first day the Germans bombed London was a Saturday Afternoon. I was in the cinema at Leytonestone with my mother. There was a banging and crashing. A gentleman stood up and told everyone to calm down. Eventually we got home. I do not Know how.

Shortly after I joined the ATS. I did my training in Wrexham. During my years in the army, I was involved in some interesting events, Including, The preparation of OVERLORD, the invasion of Europe, I left the army in 1946 a year after the war finished.
