Engraved is Royal Army Service Corps
“This story was submitted to the People’s War site by a volunteer from Adult and Community Learning, Woodstock, on behalf Keith and has been added to the site with his permission. Keith fully understands the site’s terms and conditions.”
I signed up for National Service in 1947 and joined the Queen’s Royal Army Regiment. I was 18 years old. I looked after German prisoners of war in Egypt. I had to make sure they were doing their work. One of them was quite friendly and made this cigarette case for me.
