I am a 'Demob Baby'now 57 and retired. I therefore can not speak from experience of the war only stories passed down from my Dad Harold.
Dad joined up, and served in North Africa, Scicily, Casino, and throughout Italy. His stories were always light hearted, and at one point after telling me what a great soldier Rommel (the Desert Fox) was I took it for granted that he was on our side!
Meanwhile back in the U.K. Aunt Elsie had recently met George Morton whilst working at AVROS.
When George was called up he was sent to Italy, and although he had never met Harold he searched for him, and they eventually met up in Rimini, and the attached picture was taken. How he found him we will never know.
After the war,Dad always reminded me that there was good and bad in every, race, colour, and creed.
