Born in 1940 and lived in Notts. We had chickens in the garden. I went in a pushchair to next village to butchers with a cardboard box in the pushchair with 2 chickens in the box. One chicken was kept by the butcher, other chicken was killed, dressed and put back int he box with more (black market) meat!
