My father, Ernie Copley, was stationed in the Isle of Man during the Second World War, manning ant-aircraft guns.
He is 83 now and recently he came out with this story prompted by the fact that his grand daughter had moved to the Isle of Man.
"I remember once when we were stationed in the Isle of Man on the ack-ack guns. One day the siren went off and Bill and I rushed out to our stations. Just as we left the hut Bill turned back.
"Where are you going?" I shouted.
To get my false teeth. I've left them by my bed."
To which I replied, "Get out here, they're dropping bombs not bloody sandwiches."
