I write this as the son of my father who initially came from Wales to join the British Police force. Quickly he graduated to New Scotland Yard and was enlisted to Special Branch. During the war he learnt languages and was more latterly during the war ordered to join the merchant navy. This he did - on the mine sweepers up the channel and atlantic. He survived and was then posted to the advance guard entering Hamburg to receive the surrender of the Nazis. There is more - but I would welcome news from anyone who also directly or indirectly had an association with Special Branch and was involved in tracking people!

About myself: Male, age 57 - British, well travelled.
