After the battles of North Africa attention was given to the island of Pantelleria, which lies between Cap Bon in Tunisia and Sicily.
The island had been bombed for several days and the time came for the invasion of the island.
The Third British Infantry Brigade was given the task of capturing the island, and after only a token resistance this was duly accomplished and the several thousand prisoners were dispatched to N. Africa.
During a conversation [on the airfield, which was the main reason for the assault] an Italian woman approached us tearfully asking [in broken English] the whereabouts of the Hospitale.
At this juncture a little rotund Italian naval officer approached saying he would show her the way and he was hungry for love. Immediately came our reply, "We could do with a cut off the joint ourselves and you are not having any."
GET DOWN TO THE HARBOUR AND BE ON THE NEXT BOAT TO N. AFRICA.
