I was in the WAAF’s, arriving back into camp in Yorkshire at midnight, after having delivered materials to Manchester, to be told the war had finished. I was so tired I went to bed. VE Day I spent quietly in my billet. I didn’t feel like celebrating as I had lost my brother and a boyfriend.
