During the war my uncle Syd, who served with the RASC was home on leave and I was sharing the air raid shelter in my Grandmother's garden. Suddenly an incendiary bomb landed next door and I shall never forget the sight of my father and uncle leaping over the fence to put it out. I had never realised my father could be so agile!
