One day in the late evening of 1945, my grandfather was infomed that he and his army buddies would be accross the channel before before tomorrow night. He and his battalion were greatly worried as they were going to a place and the fact that they knew that they didnt have much of a chance of surviving. He escaped the beaches but suffered a near death experience as he was shot through the leg and couldnt walk. At this point he realised the severity of the situation,if the allies did not suceed then he would either be killed or be taken prisoner. But happily he survived.
