I remember my Dad coming home from leave. It would have been the first recollection I have of him. He brought some tinned sweets with him. Being so young I didn’t really take it all in, he was just there. When the war ended I remember his return and all his medals, badges and uniform. As I child I thought it was the norm, it’s only now I’ve grown older I understand.
