 | | | Hampton Court in Herefordshire is normally closed to the public, but has now begun tours of the 15th century castle.
In recent years these rooms have undergone complete refurbishment under the current owners the Van Kampen family.

The tours begin at the Victorian panelled dining room and take in the well-stocked, south-facing Library and the large ballroom with views across the lawns to the meadow and woodland beyond.
In the stair hall and the Cloisters, visitors come face to face with ranks of suits of armour, antelope heads and a stuffed lion before moving into the dramatic Coningsby Hall with its huge fireplace, finally emerging in the private, central courtyard with its formal clipped yews.
To enhance the period atmosphere, visitors will be serenaded by the Nonimus Minstrels, 'masked minstrels from an age of romance and adventure', performing songs from across the centuries on whistles, reeds, strings and a battery of percussion.
Other highlights include demonstrations of hawks in flight as well as opportunities to handle the birds, popular Herefordshire storyteller Austin Keenan, summer garland-making workshops and a labyrinth cut into long grass on the lawns. | | | |
