A Worcester soldier is featured on army recruitment adverts across his home county...

A Worcester soldier has found himself fronting a new recruitment campaign for the army.

Wayne Smith is a member of the Mercian regiment, which has just been formed by merging the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters with other regiments in the region.

His image will now appear on a recruitment poster, and you might also find him looking back at you from the sides of buses and phone boxes

Wayne, who's 24, has done tours in Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, as well as exercises in Botswana and Kenya:

"The British Army is much more than just a team.

"It's a family that is there for you when you need it most.

"It's certainly the best career step I've ever taken in my life and I'll never look back."
