Flood Hero: Overnight Accommodation

After walking to Eckington from Tewkesbury, these stranded people were offered a home for the night.

Having battled through the water as far as Eckington from Tewkesbury, I was unable to get any further.

I had joined with two young chaps - Nick from Sedgeberrow and Andy from Pershore - and we had walked as far as we could.

Knowing that the bridge at Eckington was out, I knocked on the door of friends Hilary and Alan asking for a bit of shelter.

They welcomed all three of us inside, gave us dry clothing, showers and a bed for the night.

The next morning they went out especially to provide us with a delicious cooked breakfast and a comfortable day's stay, until the boys managed to get away.

Hilary runs the Worcester Volcano Community Choir and I feel so indebted to her and her family for their kindness to two complete strangers.

She's a star.

Nominate your hero or heroine from the July floods - someone who went out of their way to help someone in trouble.
