About Worcestershire

Gordon Wainwright, is the headteacher of St John's Primary School in Kidderminster, and this is the second time he's completed a series of marathons, to raise money for charity.

When he was head of Sion Hill Middle School, in Kidderminster, he and his colleague Pete Hodgetts, site manager for the school, ran five marathons around the world in their attempt to raise £6,000 for children's charities:

• Arctic Circle Marathon (aka Santa Claus Marathon) in July - Completed in 6 hours and 58 minutes

• Berlin Marathon in September - Completed in 6 hours, 36 minutes and 48 seconds (and 27 degrees of heat!!)

• Lisbon Marathon in December - Only a half-marathon completed due to injury and organisers sending them the wrong way!!!

• 4th March 2007 - Barcelona Marathon

• The London marathon - 22 April 2007

Trainers

They raised more than £7,000 in the end.

Since then Gordon has been doing marathons on his own:

• Reykjavik Marathon, Iceland - 18 August, 2007. Completed in 6h 44m 41s.

• Oslo Half Marathon , Norway - 30 September, 2007. Complete 3h 9m 01s

• Munich Marathon, Germany - 14 October, 2007. Completed a half marathon in 3h 03 m 32s.

• Athens Classic Marathon, Greece - 4 November, 2007. Complete in 6h 28m 58s

• Calvia Half Marathon, Majorca - 16 December, 2007. Completed in 3h 3m 40s

• Marrakech Half Marathon - 27 January, 2008. Completed in 3h 13m 38s

• Rome Marathon- 16, March, 2008. Completed in 6h 49m 47s.

He plans to complete this years marathon fundraising effort by running the London Marathon on 13 April, 2008.
