Worcester-born Will Holland is one of the big names in the world of alternative dance music today.

The multi-instrumentalist, writer, arranger, producer not only has his career as Quantic - he is also the leader of the Quantic Soul Orchestra and part of duo The Limp Twins, as well as being a heavily in-demand DJ.

Fusing jazz sensibility with dance floor orientated grooves and intelligent breaks, Will has released three albums as Quantic - 2001's debut 'The 5th Exotic', 2002's 'Apricot Morning and 2004's 'Mishaps Happening'.

No samples allowed

The Quantic Soul Orchestra is separate to his Quantic project as it is strictly about live music with no samples or studio trickery allowed. It is not a live band to perform his Quantic material, but a completely different band, performing their own material, where Holland explores the funk sound.

The Quantic Soul Orchestra's second album 'Pushin on' was released in May 2005, following up the extremely successful debut 'Stampede'.

The band was originally put together to perform the material Will wrote for the first QSO album in a live setting. They have performed at festivals all over Europe including Glastonbury, Roskilde and our very own Big Chill.

Along with Will (Guitars, Bass and Percussion), the band also includes Dave Woodhouse (Clarinet, Rhodes and Trumpet), Damian Bell (Trombone), Antonia Pheulatos (String Arrangements and Violin), Lucy Holland (Sax), Richard Gibbs (Drums) and the soulful vocals of Alice Russell.

The QSO make raw music that is both enjoyable to listen and dance to with a strong 70s funk influence.
