We took a trip down the River Severn with our video camera. Then our technical boffins speeded up the footage to several times the actual speed, so now you can take an express tour of the river. Click on the links in the top right of this page to view either the broadband or dial-up version.Take a look at our route guide below to see if you spot all the sights as we approach Worcester Cathedral. Route guideSetting off from near Bevere Lock we head downstream on the Severn towards Worcester City Centre. ![]() Boating on the River Severn From here Hallow Park is on the right and the Northwick and Barbourne areas of Worcester are on the left. As we continue south, we catch our first glimpse of St Andrew's Spire and Worcester's famous Cathedral in the distance. Next we go past Worcester Rowing Club on the left hand bank. If you look closely on the opposite side of the river as we turn to the left, you can see the speeded up traffic shooting down Hylton Road. Now we're getting closer to the centre of Worcester. The racecourse is on the left and BBC Hereford and Worcester is on the right behind the trees. ![]() Worcester Cathedral from the Severn Coming up you can see Worcester's three bridges crossing the river. First we approach the recently built Sabrina Pedestrian Footbridge, which is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a tower. It is believed that the name Severn may be derived from the name Sabrina. Watch for the woman flying past on a bicycle.... There she goes! Next we pass under the iron girders of the Railway bridge which links Worcester Foregate Street with Malvern Link and Great Malvern stations. Finally, take a look at the cars zipping over Worcester Road Bridge as we pass the Severn View Hotel on the left and go under the middle archway of the bridge, built in 1781 and widened in 1931. Now as we pass some swans being fed, we can see the Cathedral in its full glory. There ends our turbo speed tour down the River Severn into Worcester.
