You can see the bird all year round but the RSPB observation point is open April-August 11am-4pm. Otter watching - you'll need to be up early or be around at dusk. | | Access: | Variable access - there is some access to lakeside areas at Ullswater. Harder access to fells and to wilder areas. Uneven path to Haweswater bird observation point. | | Getting there: | Ullswater is only five miles from junction 40 on the M6 north-south motorway. From there the A592 bring visitors into the area. The village of Pooley Bridge is at the northern end of Ullswater with Glenridding at the southern tip. Haweswater observation point is open during the breeding season. It is reached from the western end of Haweswater, 1.25 miles (2 km) along an uneven path.
