Results from the 2008 Guernsey Deputies election for the Castel District.

Castel Election Facts

In 2008:

  • There were 4,983 people on the electoral roll
  • This was 383 (8%) more than in 2004
  • 12 candidates stood for the seven seats

In 2004:

  • 10 candidates stood for the seven seats
  • 14,133 votes were cast
  • 2,987 people voted
  • This was 65% of those registered
  • Voters used an average of 4.7 votes

Results from the Castel District in the 2008 Election declared at 23:33 on Wednesday 23 April.

2,723 or 54.49% of voters on the electoral roll turned out to vote.
A total of 13,656 votes were cast.
There were three blank papers, eight spoilt papers and on average 5 votes were cast.

The four standing deputies were re-elected to the house along with two candidates who stood in the 2004 election and first time candidate Barry Paint.

The elected candidates will be sworn into the Guernsey States at the meeting on 1 May.
