Election 2008You are in: Guernsey > States of Guernsey > Election 2008 > Jean Knight Jean KnightJean Knight is a candidate standing for election in the Castel parish. ![]() Jean Knight. ProfileI was born in the Castel in 1946, and was educated at Castel School, Ladies College and Aberdeen University. Professionally, my background is in book-keeping and accounting and currently I work as an IT specialist in the finance industry. Why am I standing? For many years I've wanted to stand as a deputy and now I have the time, space and independence to deliver the extreme commitment required to fulfil the obligations of the position. I offer clear thought, considered opinions and an ability to make good decisions. Guernsey educated me, has given me an interesting life and has provided a place for my sons to grow up safely and well. What makes a good deputy is mostly a point of view; but I believe the basic requirement is to be able to take the right decisions for the benefit of the community. IT IS PAYBACK TIME! 'Jean the Clean'I stand for a clean, clear, no frills, and no waste approach. I hope to be able to influence my fellow deputies into making valid and above all economical decisions for Guernsey which will have a positive effect. I have technical skills in many areas as a computer programmer, mathematics teacher and have a broad knowledge of the finance industry, where I am currently employed. My contribution to the new states would be calmness, decisiveness and the ability to listen to the argument and effectively sum up situations.
